The ABIM Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation established by the American Board of Internal Medicine
Established in 1999, the Foundation serves as an important complement to ABIM. ABIM's mission is to enhance quality through certification. The ABIM Foundation permits exploration of the broader set of issues that are central to the common mission of ABIM and the ABIM Foundation: to enhance quality of care.
The ABIM Foundation’s work is led by a board of 12 trustees. The members of the board include national leaders in quality assessment and improvement and medical education, as well as consumer advocates, policy makers, purchasers, and physician leaders.
